Thema artichoke (each)

The artichoke is one of the most best-selling winter crops. This vegetable is very popular due to its great taste and flavour characteristics.

This artichoke is a variety of the violet artichoke and it is characterised by an ash-purple flower head which is compact, the heart is tender, its colour is light yellow first and it takes on a violet shade when it is ripe

Artichokes are low in fat while rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. High in folate, vitamins C and K, they also supply important minerals, such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and iron.

Artichoke leaf extract may have a positive effect on cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. It seems also that they may protect the liver from damage.

How to clean artichokes: fill a large bowl with water and lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon). Trim each artichoke removing the tough outer leaves, until you are left with a small.
